Hi, I’m Anjali.
I help individuals, couples, and families build insight, develop tools for communication and reflection, and transform their relationships and their lives.
I believe healing is not just about “fixing” our problems or “feeling better,” but also about becoming more available, wholeheartedly, for life as it is.
My Clinical Approach
My practice uses a broad array of old and new practices including Internal Family Systems/parts work, somatic awareness and mindfulness, and free association. I am also guided by attachment theory, various psychoanalytic frameworks, Jungian dream analysis, and the spiritual wisdom of the body and the natural world.
I am attuned to the specific language we use over time, the metaphors that recur, and the imagery that seems to keep popping up. Our therapeutic relationship itself is a site of inquiry; using insights about our dynamic together can be rewarding and informative. I bring a keen awareness of process and language in our space together to enrich your understanding of your experiences in the world.
I aim to help you form connections between the details of your experiences and the broader contexts (familial, social, societal, global and historical) in which they take place. I am deeply curious about what, when, how, and why you think and feel the way you do, on both conscious and unconscious levels.
I see good therapy as living, breathing poetry. Together we unearth conscious and unconscious connections, build understanding through metaphor, play with language, and generate new ways to visualize our path. In this work, we create new patterns for navigating life, and practice being with our feelings, bodies, loved ones, and the elements both within ourselves and of the earth.
Training
I am a Social Worker who is psychoanalytically and relationally informed.
I trained at the Ackerman Institute for the Family, where I studied foundations of family therapy and worked with couples and families to heal relational ruptures and reconnect with joy and pleasure together. I also trained for four years at the Sexuality, Attachment and Trauma (SAT) Project under supervision of experts in the field of out of control sexual behavior (OCSB).
Why I am called to this work
I believe we’re all existentially drawn to make meaning and feel generative in our lives and relationships. Facilitating a contemplative and supportive healing space is generative and meaning-making to me. To join you in your process, and to help you grow in alignment with how you want to feel and who you want to be is an honor and a gift that keeps giving.
