My fee scale and philosophy have been adapted from the scholarship of Kenya Crawford and Alexis J. Cunningfolk.
Sliding Scale
You may qualify if you…
Support children or have other dependents
Would have to make significant changes or difficult decisions about daily living expenses in order to afford working with me at the standard rate
Have burdensome medical expenses (partially covered or not covered by insurance), chronic illness (prohibits you from your potential earning powers) or rehabilitation fees
Have significant (non-mortgage) debt and/or immigration fees
Have engaged in survival sex work
Struggle to financially meet your daily basic needs
Do not have family or friends who can support you financially during a crisis
Are housing unstable and/or food insecure
Are impacted by state violence (refugees, asylum seekers and injustice in our carceral/legal system)
What it covers:
Offering sliding scale spots allows me to work with people who cannot access this type of work in a mainstream or market rate way.
Standard Rate
You may qualify if you…
Will not have to make significant financial sacrifices in your daily life in order to pay for my services
Covers the cost of my time
For you if you hold some financial privilege
For you if you will not have to make significant financial sacrifices to pay for services
Have emergency funds
What it covers:
Paying the standard rate ensures that I am compensated for my time and labor in session.
Redistribution Rate
For you if:
Own an apartment/home
Do part-time work by choice
Have the ability to do recreational travel and/or discretionary expenses like dining out, entertainment
Have inherited or will inherit money
Have family support financially
Have investments in stocks/bonds
Have ample or reasonable savings
Have a professional degree that gives you higher earning power (Even if you are not currently exercising your earning power, we ask you to recognize when this is a choice and consider contributing more)
What it covers:
Paying the redistribution rate allows me to offer sliding scale sessions to those who cannot afford market or redistribution rate. It also ensures that I am compensated for my time and labor in sessions as well as planning, administrative, and conceptual work outside of our sessions.
